Senior Systems Engineer
We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer on behalf of our client, a leading investment company renowned for its innovative use of technology in the financial sector. This role is integral to the operations of the firm's proprietary trading entity, offering the opportunity to lead significant projects and enhance system efficiencies.
What You'll Do All Day:
- Optimize System Performance: Enhance stability and performance on critical Linux trading systems.
- Infrastructure Support: Monitor and maintain systems including Kubernetes (K8s), Proxmox, and Saltstack.
- Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python and Shell.
- Collaboration: Work closely with software development teams to integrate and operationalize new applications.
- System Administration: Manage various STaaS infrastructures and a large server environment with over 300 physical servers and 700+ virtual machines.
- Innovation: Research and implement cutting-edge systems to improve the operational efficiency of applications.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Educational Background: B.S. or equivalent degree in a relevant field.
- Linux Expertise: Minimum of 5 years’ experience with Debian/Ubuntu distributions. Additional familiarity with other Linux distributions is advantageous.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong programming skills in Python and Shell; experience with virtualization technologies such as Proxmox and QEMU/KVM.
- Advanced Knowledge: Deep understanding of Kubernetes, container orchestration technologies, and performance troubleshooting.
- Configuration Management: Experience with tools like Ansible and Salt.
- Desirable Skills: Familiarity with data virtualization, monitoring technologies (Grafana, Check_MK, Prometheus), and systems like Elasticsearch, Kafka, and MongoDB.
